Pavilion dm4

Hi everyone, I have a disconcerting issue with regard to my HP Pavilion dm4 laptop. I have had this computer for 4 years now, and in the past 8 months, I have had a blinking light that comes on at the bottom right corner of my laptop.

(see photo below, arrow points to its location). It has been blinking more and more often. The blinking light usually comes on right after the computer "wakes up", and does so for about 30 seconds, then it would stop.

Most of the time it blinks white (such as right after it wakes up), but once or twice it had blinked red. There have been no other issues with the laptop (so far). It still worries me, because I don't know what that blinking light is about and what it means. What is happening and what should I do to stop the blinking light? Thanks in advance for any advice and help!

Hi,

Can you post back with the following details.

The full Model No. and Product No. of your dm4 series series notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information.

The version of the operating system ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

The light you mention indicates that the finger print reader is ready to accept a scan - do you log into Windows using the fingerprint scanner?

Regards,

DP-K
