I managed to fix it! Basically, I had to reboot, keep pressing ESC to get into the bios.

 

Go over to the right in the BIOS and there's an option to restore defaults, save + exit.

 

I did that, then booted into Windows 8.1 and re-installed the following driver: Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n (May differ depending on your model of laptop).

well, weird.

 

After the recent windows update, the issue has been fixed. Not sure why, but I have no more issues regarding Wifi. Interesting.
