HP ZBook Studio x360 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
1903 Win update breaks thunderbolt full functionality for me. EGPU Aorus Gaming Box GF 1070 is no longer recognized by the system. In Win 10 1809 everything works ok.
I guess there are two reasons

  1. Thunderbolt firmware update (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-zbook-studio-x360-g5-convertible-works...) fails to install in Win 10 1903.
  2. After installing the latest Intel Chipset Support driver (10.1.17695.8086 Rev.A, sp91957,  https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-zbook-studio-x360-g5-convertible-works...)  thunderbolt stops working and dissappears from the device manager. Probably BIOS bug. Changing the hotplug mode to native + low power in BIOS helps, but I can't use it as the eGPU is not recognized in this mode. (see question ZBook Studio G5 - Thunderbolt controller is not recognized by the system.)

I tried upgrade with win update and  I tried fresh install from usb disk with drive format.
Any help is welcome, I can run Win 1809 for now, but I will be forced eventually by MS.
Are there any HP guys around in this forum,  to check these easily reproducible issues and fix them?

thanks

Hello,

Did you find a solution for the Thunderbolt not working?

I have the same problem.

If you have a solution, please share.

Thank you!

Have you tried the latest BIOS (sp98704.exe) released 14.8.2019?
I returned to Win 10 1809, so I can't check by myself.

I think the only solution is fixing the drivers by HP.

Hi, I have the same issue on a HP Omen 17-an021na. I need my Sonnet eGPU to speed up my 3D renders. When is HP going to release new drivers?

I noticed that none of their consumer notebooks and laptops have been tested with Windows 10 1903

Is that a bad 'omen' (pun pun)?

Same Problem here. Zbook Studio G5 and Dock G2 230W.

If HP can't figure out this solution, all of our Zbooks and Docks will go back for refund. Just Problems since the beginning.
