Hi Kyle, thanks for the very informative post.
I installed LInux on my HP stream, but the screen drivers aren't very good. I used to be able to play movies through the Stream onto my TV, but not now.
I totally wiped the original Windows 7 setup.
Can I just buy a new copy of Windows 10 for USB and install over Linux?

Hi, I have been running Mint Linux on my Stream 11 and the graphics drivers have been working well. I can display to a TV via the HDMI port without a problem. Which Linux distribution are you using?
Regarding restoring back to Windows, the Stream notebooks came with either Windows 8.1 with Bing or now Windows 10. You could restore it by ordering a recovery USB from HP. If the notebook had ever been upgraded to Windows 10, you could also do a fresh install using the downloadable install media from Microsoft following the guidelines here. You would delete all the partitions on the disk including the partitions created during the Linux installation.
If the notebook does not have a Windows 10 license, I believe you could purchase Windows 10 from the link you posted and the install procedure is probably similar to what I have posted here.
