I tried and didn't work, also the Intel software say my computer don't support Intel VT. what is wierd is I had dual boot partition, if I boot windows 2012 R2 on the laptop with Hypervisor role installed on it, I am able to create and use virtuals

computers.

So for me the problem still exist and is not solution from HP

** I have posted the same answer to the same question on another thread. **

I have the same laptop and I was having the same issue. I talked with HP support they provided a simple solution - "Power Drain" and it worked for me. 🙂

Please follow the below steps:

  • Do a hard shut down by pressing the power button for around 10-15 seconds.
  • Remove the power cable and battery from computer (removing battery seems to be optional; I didn't remove my battery).
  • Press the power button for 25-30 seconds.

Now, try switching it on again. The issue should have been fixed by now.

If it still doesn't work, contact the HP support before you run out of warranty. Good luck. 🙂

Hi,

I found a solution to our problem regarding shutting down completely in Windows 10 try this;

- go to system Bios press F10

-look for Advance opions section

- in this section look for VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY, It's disabled

-Change it to enabled, then save & exit

Your PROBLEM IS GONE:smileyhappy:

It doesn't work try shutting down after an hour or so and it won't, If you shutdown the computer within 5-10 min it does shut down completely but not after using it for extended periods of time like an hour or more.

That's not a solution for me, i already use virtualization and it's always enabled in BIOS. it's not an option to disable virtualization to solve the problem.

I have the same issue on my Dell xps 12. The only thing that is unusall is, it doesn't happen all the time. Some times it shuts down fine. I always wait at least 6 months before I do any operating system upgrades but I got impatient. Dell has all up dated drives which I did, but it didn't help. I don't have much on the system and all worked with windows 8.1. Did the recent update from Microsoft no help. Dell hasn't a clue I just emailed Microsoft. I feel it is a operating system issue. There are command codes that are sent to the hardware telling it to shut down. Well I 've exhausted all possiabilties for now. Hope microsoft comes up with some thing. I have a window 7 machine that I will not update till these kind of problems are resolved. If anyone comes up with something let me know.

Temporary Walkthrough:
Whenever you want to shutdown your laptop after using it for extended periods of time just restart it(the restart isn't affected somehow). And then when the restart is completed, select shutdown and it will do so normally.
This way atleast you won't have to force shutdown your laptop everytime thus preventing any damage that may be caused due to repeated forced shutdowns.
Hope this helps you guys until a fix is released sooner or later.

UPDATED SOLUTION: ROLL BACK YOUR INTEL MANAGEMENT ENGINE TO v9.5.xxinstead of 11.xx. That will SOLVE the issue with shutdown and sleep.
