Hi.. Download the graphic driver of your notebook for windows 7 from hp's website. Then troubleshoot it and run it in windows 7 compatibility. It will work for sure.. :generic:

Er...

That doesn't work.

Try 12.9 drivers, working with no problesm on my HP dm4 (7470M)

It works quite well on envy series notebooks. If u previously installed any amd/nvidia graphic driver, remove it and then install it from troubleshoot compatibility.

This driver is only compatible with Radeon Series HD5000 and above.

I'm tired of waiting HP. HP hardware is excellent, but the software support sucks so badly. I'm back to Windows 7.

And my next laptop will be from another manufacture.

It is weird when HP tells to buy the laptop, then more cash do upgrade to Windows 8, if Windows 8 aren't compatible with the laptop. This is madness.

It doesn't upgrade the Intel driver and it does not work for clean install of drivers.

I have an Envy as well, and no it does not.  I've been working with this issue for months now.

Specicially, the Intel driver installs fine.  The AMD does not.

Are you installing the same AMD graphic driver for windows 7 that hp has provided?

And which version of windows 8 are you using? is it rtm?

Build 9200.  RTM, legit activated.  Windows 8 Pro.  I've been using it since August 15th.

Driver provided by HP for WIndows 7: Yup  Compatibility mode:  Yup

I'm not computer illterate.  I worked for MS as Windows tech support for four years.  I am also a java and android programmer.  So I would hope I could install something simple like a driver:smileyhappy:

My experience is echoed across the Internet.  Folks are not able to get the Windows 7 driver installed in Windows 8 with swtichable graphics without hacking the inf. While the Catalyst Control Center will install, the proper drivers do not. That is why folks are relying on Leshcat's drivers, although they are not signed and have their own issues.

The reason is this:

Compatibility mode is for executables.  Infs are not executables.  So, this little section below must be modified to support Windows 8, else the OS says the driver is not for the OS and will not install it, even manually:

[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1]

This limits the driver to only installing on Windows 7.  It needs to be:

[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.2]

Changing it unsigns the driver however and forces Windows 8 to use test mode ( if you want it to work).

Hi!

After a few hours trying to figure out how to install my Radeon 6370m switchable with a 4200m on Windows 8 Pro, I've finaly done it. And Control Center is working. May work on other cards combination.

Here's how:

1 - Install the onboard card with Windows Update. Don't know if this step is really necessary.

2 - Download and install the catalyst 12.3 folder (12-3_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc). This is the last working catalyst for my card. Just install the folder, do not install the .exe.

3 - On Device manager, disable the 6300m card to prevent BSOD.

4 - Download and install catalyst 12.8. Even with the offboard card disabled, BSOD may occur. That's not really a problem.

5 - On Device manager, manualy install the 12.3 driver on the 6300m:

- right click on card

- update driver

- browse my computer

- let me pick from a list

- have disk

- browse

- go to catalyst 12.3 folder - Packages - Drivers - Display - W76A_INF- CH135750.inf (depending on your card the file name may be different. You will have to test wich inf file is the proper driver).

6 - Reboot

Catalyst 12.8 is going to boot with the system and the driver 12.3 is going to handle the graphics card. This way you can use the card and control the card settings on Control Center.

Onboard card is going to be fully operacional too.

Good luck!
