Yes I looks like I am going to have to give that a go next.. Just grr sucks as I am a GIS specialist and thats what I use this laptop for most.

It is such a pain in the ass having to reinstall Arcview and the Quantim over and over again not to mention having to reactivate my copy of Office 2010 cause Microsoft is always sooo friendly when asking for a new activation code over the phone 😛

I stayed for two weeks with an empty lap that has nothing installed except the usual windows stuff

since I had to reinstall windows 8 more than once. I needed to be sure that everything is sorted first

I know yoru pain, at days I felt like breaking my lap into pieces

I owe you a coke, Safemode worked and I have done the compatiblity trick... not a perfect fix but not nearly as unstable as with the costume drivers

:LaughingTears: :LaughingTears:  Glad it worked out.

I recommend you start fresh again, to avoid having the test mode and the rest of leshcat's stuff. especially the original Hp driver's package that has the right .inf which you must have deleted while installing leshcat's drivers

How can I reenable DSE, I don't need it anymore and don't want to have that test watermark.

You have to use cmd.exe or powershell with admin rights:

bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

Then reboot.

Any ideas on how to get this resolved?

C:\>bcdedit /set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
The boot configuration data store could not be opened.

Update -  The amd reference driver from AMD http://www2.ati.com/drivers/12-10_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe fixed my problem.

You have to do it with a command prompt that has admin rights.

OK!, and what "worked" for you?

On what OS?

what HP model?

what type gpu/apu?

just saying a driver workes "for you" doesn't mean squat.

besides that is ONLY the AMD driver, switchables need a compatable Intel driver too.

Wow yesterday was a long day... lol as soon as I posted that I had a duh moment.

So here we go for you too Hoody.

I have a HP Pavilion Dv6 - 6040ca running Windows 8 64bit

Display set up is AMD M880G with swtichable cards between ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 and AMD Radeon HD 6650M

Running  HP Driver sp52657 in Windows 7 compatibility mode corrected for the most part my issues with the display problems I encountered during my upgrade to Windows 8.

The only issue I now have is when I move the computer to a low power consumption setting deactivating the 6650M and then move back to full power my start screen becomes blank tiles untill a restart.
