Yeah...I hate to be the bearer or bad news, but that statement has been up for a couple of months.

Well, I was not aware about it. But, We have to wait until October 26.
If they lack the support we can argue with them.

I am very pessimistic about seeing drivers on the 26th.  Maybe in a couple months.

@Adrynalyne

Here is my last reply back to AMD today

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is basicly what I'm having a problem with, and when you say my card IS supported, it makes me wonder how this will change if/when the "final" driver for Enduro is released.

Because here it does show in the "cards supported" most if not all 7xxxM cards as supported, so the info being given to the public/user is rather confusing when on one hand the tool says your hardware isn't , to go to the manufacturer, and on the other it says it is.

However I give you the benifit of the doubt, since you stated that this is a "beta" and AMD knows of the issue. My bottom line  what I call "support" will be when I am able to directly download any updated driver for my 7690M card from AMD not HP, and have it install and work with what ever gpu/apu hardware I have AMD/AMD or AMD/Intel.

Btw, I checked the driver properties in device manager, and in the "Intel" driver properties it actually say's

Driver Provided by Advanced Micro Devices, Inc
Date: 9/30/2011
Driver Version: 8.882..2.3000

So like I said, I'm unsure why AMD had a working driver back in 2011 and a signed Intel driver but can't seem to update it since.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for Marlkey, I don't even want HP to be my driver support, I want AMD, the GPU maker to support and supply my drivers for "their" card. Besides AMD has monthly updates, HP maybe yearly.

HP Recommended

Yeah I agree.  I much rather AMD support it, and for that to happen, they need to be supplying an AMD signed Intel driver.

Just had that FonCon with Ontario AMD tech, went OK I assume, the bottom line is he does understand where I'm comming from.

Problem is he's just a email tech and says he monitors some AMD graphics blog board. Anyway as far as it went he did say that when the new Enduro  driver comes on line, that the AMD tool used to ID your graphics card for support should than be updated to see the 7xxxM cards incl my 7690M XT, I said good, than that woud mean I can than download and install the AMD drivers. He still wasn't clear on the part Intel plays, after I told him the Intel driver on my machine is actully AMD provided, lol, said he didn't have that information, that the engineers did that, but he's sure my card will be supported.

So at the end I just said I will be waiting for the new driver and see what happens, but to send me any info he may get on this. We'll see.

I made sure to emphasize the fact that there are a lot of angry people out here and AMD stock went down again, that if AMD is to survive it must get this switchable graphics together and take the driver update back from HP since HP drags it feet. Because Radeon gpus go into more manufactures than just HP.

I haven't had any type of support contact with HP since my unit went off warranty, so I have no idea what all HP is doing about this issue or if they are even up on the issue.

Just recieved updated drivers for radeon hd 6700 series through microsoft updates today. No more exclamation mark in device manager anymore. However catalyst control center still doesn't open so no switchable graphics yet.

HP Recommended

I received yesterday. Installing that driver trough WIndows Update is the same as installing Catalyst 12.8. In my case I got a big Blue Screen of Death and had to recover the system to last week. =/

That happened because catalyst 12.8 does not support my onboard Radeon 4200 or something like that. Had to stay with catalyst control center 12.8 and catalyst 12.3 driver.

Still waiting for full diver support to AMD/AMD.

This is not an option for me. AMD dropped support for Low-End GPU Radeon Series 4000 and lower.

It is on HP hands now.

If I can't get the Radeon Mobility HD4250 working, my Radeon Mobility HD6370M will not work.

My Laptop lastest BIOS don't give an option to get a fixed GPU.

So, the only way to get everything working on Windows 8 is HP launching the Drivers and maybe (I hope they do) update our BIOS to match the Windows 8 new features.

@MalarKeY007

I had the same problem you have with a HP G42-371. And I found a way to fix it. Here's how:

After a few hours trying to figure out how to install my Radeon 6370m switchable with a 4200m on Windows 8 Pro, I've finaly done it. And Control Center is working. May work on other cards combination.

Here's how:

1 - Install the onboard card with Windows Update. Don't know if this step is really necessary.
2 - Download and install the catalyst 12.3 folder (12-3_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc). This is the last working catalyst for my card. Just install the folder, do not install the .exe.
3 - On Device manager, disable the 6300m card to prevent BSOD.
4 - Download and install catalyst 12.8. Even with the offboard card disabled, BSOD may occur. That's not really a problem.
5 - On Device manager, manualy install the 12.3 driver on the 6300m:
- right click on card
- update driver
- browse my computer
- let me pick from a list
- have disk
- browse
- go to catalyst 12.3 folder - Packages - Drivers - Display - W76A_INF- CH135750.inf (depending on your card the file name may be different. You will have to test wich inf file is the proper driver).

6 - Reboot

Catalyst 12.8 is going to boot with the system and the driver 12.3 is going to handle the graphics card. This way you can use the card and control the card settings on Control Center.

Onboard card is going to be fully operacional too.

Good luck!

I don't think HP care about its existing customers....They are releasing new ranges of laptops and pc but they are leaving bad impression on their customers by not releasing window 8 drivers.
I'm using window 8 for one and half month but with few of drivers woking.....
Even lenovo released their window 8 drivers long time ago

I have the same problem with my almost brand new (April) > dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition

I'm a Windows Phone 7(8) and Windows 8 .NET developer and I installed the RTM of Win8.  Everything went smoothly (Kudos to Microsoft for that)... EXCEPT the AMD Radion 6700 HD graphics card won't connect... I talked directly with AMD tech and they said, "HP has to provide the Catalyst Control update".  Period.

Worse now... Windows Update has installed a new driver for the Radion 6700 HD and THAT KNOCKED OUT MY WEBCAM!  aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Please HP... tell us when you will act in good faith with your most loyal customers (this is my 3rd HP laptop).  Gotta have this NOW.  Win8 is formally released on the 26th of Oct.  Surely you are ready.

Here's the post on the Webcam issue-------------------

I ran into the SAME PROBLEM on my NEW laptop (aaargh!)... it happened after I let Windows Update install an updated AMD driver for the AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series (Catalyst Control, switchable graphics with Intel graphics)

my laptop is the "HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook"

That knocked out my webcam (HP TruVision HD) and I am PISSED OFF about it!
