I'm pretty sure HP must have some sort of drivers ready by now, any large manufacturer reseller of PC's has had the W8 code long ago to get their hardware ready by now. Maybe they feel that there aren't enough people out there yet that are messing with the RTM versions to bother releasing any new drivers, or maybe they feel some will end up installing W8 drivers on their W7 Machines, who knows.

I do think it would be a lot better for HP to just admit to the existence of new drivers and give a soon to be released date to give some heads up to people waiting. I also feel that these so called drivers should be released well before the Oct 26th release/sale/download of Win8 so people will be ready to install the drivers that will be needed once the Win8 upgrade process is done.

I will be downloading the Win8 upgrade, knowing full well once installed ALL HP added software on my laptop will become null and void, the backup drive will be no use, and even the tools partition will become useless, in fact these partitions may well be removed during the Win8 upgrade process, but even if not they may as well be removed as they will no longer work anyway. This is something I asked HP support about but as usual they have no real idea what to tell you as they themselves don't know what will happen. I asked since the upgrade to a new OS is being done by MS, would HP provide a new set of Win8 disks to make their HP product workable again with the usual backup partition. The answer I got was the usual canned script.

I think this switchable graphics fiasco is nothing short of a nightmare as far as driver support goes, you can't get updated drivers from the graphics makers (AMD/Intel) as those don't work, you can't seem to get the PC manufactures to add the latest updated drivers from the main makers of the cards on their sites either. I wish they would just go back to actual "dedicated" hardware cards and let the maker of those cards support their hardware with driver updates, I mean **bleep** didn't we go through this once before with Packard bell and Compaq? They do make batteries now that last a long time without worrying about which card is in use. Although my laptop has this nice red RADEON sticker on it, AMD doesn't even recognize or support this damned card (7690M XT) besides it not even showing that the memory clock is 900MHz, it shows as 800MHz.

So all I can say to those that will be upgrading to Win8, make a full Image backup before hand..........

Well, Now it is September and HP don't got released any driver for us. 😞

This is so bad.

I hope HP release a driver with support on Mobility Radeon HD 4250 and Mobility Radeon HD 6370M switchable graphics for HP G42 373BR.
We're all using consumer computers and Microsoft has not released Windows 8 to consumers.  It's not unreasonable for HP to wait until then to release updated drivers, which apparently they've said they'll do.
Yeah and even HP's business models do not have Windows 8 drivers.

Scratch that theory.

Geez, that is embarrassing. Just look at that:

As we can see, the problem is that we all have windows 8 beta version. Seems legit <sarcasm>

And I'm kind of surprised that microsoft develops drivers for HP notebooks. Can anyone confirm this? (for me it seems a bit off)

HP Recommended

Good Point LeChuck.

But Microsoft are going to make AMD Graphic drivers  for HP?

That's odd, because I contacted AMD Support and they told me that's depend on HP do make compatible drivers for us.

Well, I'm worried. I'm not completely mad becouse the official date to release Windows 8 is October 26, but after that the drivers need to be released for us. and no more excuses about Windows not released yet.

HP Recommended

thats not true. its up to HP look at this page from lenovo

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT072084

they have windows 8 beta drivers going way back to CP.

if they can do it HP should be able to do it to, its not up to microsoft microsoft is finished with windows 8 its RTM the M if HP they need to make the drivers.

THIS IS JUST HILARIOUS xD

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/How-to-enable-dynamic-mode-bios-HP-G62/td-p/... - somebody is having the same problem as we are, so he starts new topic. Expert points him to this topic, to look for support. But there is no official comment on the situation here, only our assumptions. HP Experts are avoiding our topic but they are still pointing people to look here for the answer. That is soooo unimaginable 🙂

HP Recommended

Not surprising.  They probably don't know anything more than we do.
