Can you post a screenshot of your switchable graphics options?

I can tell from that.

Fixed Mode is where you either run on AMD or Intel, but its not software controlled.  Typically, AMD while on power, Intel while on battery.

Dynamic allows it to be different per application, but is pretty poor on battery life and hurts performance some too (until the Catalyst 12.11 drivers).

The modes are set from the BIOS, but not everyone has the choice.

oh ok so it is fixed. if i switch to battery power that intel graphics turn on.undefined

Your images aren't showing up for me.

Anyway,  you guys are in luck.

Doesn't work right for me though, likely because I have a 3rd gen Intel card.

Edit:  Oops, didnt see this was already posted.

BrandiU, thank you so much for that link, finally working drivers. 🙂
dv6 6030ew + Radeon HD6490m = works like a charm.

One thing I've learnt from that whole "Switchable HP Nonsense" -> never ever buy anything from HP.

Amazing how INTEL/AMD is more easily to resolve than AMD/AMD switchable.

I FINALLY got my laptop graphics installed and working well...

For my laptop DV7t 6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment notebook:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/556469-drivers-hp-dv6-4xxx-dv6-6xxx-dv7-5x...

It was VERY quirky though to install.  The DRIVER MUST BE INSTALLED FIRST.  And before that you must COMPLETELY REMOVE all previous drivers for BOTH AMD and INTEL graphics

After the driver install it will NOT show the AMD card as 6700M (in my case)... BUT it works!

If you want to enable the Catalyst Control interface and switchable graphics install the Catalyst "Reference" software AFTER the driver installation

AMD Radeon HD Graphics

Important Information

  • Make sure that you download and install the package that is applicable to your notebook series.
  • Do not install these if you have a standalone Intel Graphics Media Accelerator / Intel HD Graphics solution or an AMD graphics card that is not applicable!
  • REQUIRED: The current HP releases specifically support HP versions of the specified Mobility Radeon HD models and include the following components.
    • AMD graphics driver with switchable graphics feature (if applicable, available on the ENVY 14-2XXX, ENVY 17-2XXX, dv6-6XXX, dv7-6XXX)
    • HDMI audio driver
    • AMD Catalyst Control Center configuration software
  • OPTIONAL: If you want to install the current reference driver provided by AMD, download and install it on top of the HP release. This is done so that the switchable graphics feature can continue to operate properly. Install the reference driver at your own risk! Although the driver is provided by AMD, it is not guaranteed that it will operate normally under all circumstances.

Unless your running W8 I'm afraid you may only have downloaded and installed the driver from Nov 2011 Unless you have a version of the pre release of W8 installed. There is no driver update for W7 for the dv7t-6c00, I have the same machine but with the 7690m XT and Intel 3000, a real bad combination for driver support. Only way to get an updated driver is to go to W8, which I will be doing Friday or right after. I'm hoping for AMD and Intel to make their drivers instalable and leave HP out of it as this W8 driver may be the only one you'll see for another 2 or 3 years.

I'm a developer running Win8 Pro ... the drivers and Catalyst are working well now... as noted in my previous note

None of the solutions presented so far work for everyone.

Edit: As I posted this, drivers showed up for my laptop.
