When this problem happened to me, i tried :

- taking out the battery and pulling plugging out the charger  and doing the whole BIOS and default thing, but that did not work for me

-I tried crying - didnt work

- I prayed to God- WORKED !

- i WENt To my control panel  in start menu , clicked on network and internet , under network and sharing center  to the right i clicked view network status and tasks , then i clicked manage wireless networks to the left , then you should be able to click on wireless  connection to your left  and that should do it

 I hope this helped

HI Hashaw:

I gather you are also having a wireless issue. Did you try the solution on the bottom of the previous post?

I would suggest running the HP Support Assistant click here. I am also adding a link to a Microsoft document Troubleshooting in Windows click here. If this has failed to resolve your problem, would you please provide the exact model of your computer. and what operating system you are running?  How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number click here.

I found a new trick when my wifi is not connecting. All I do is put the laptop to sleep and wake it right away. Wifi works fine after that.

Dear Sparkles1,
I have this problem since I upgraded my pavilion dm4 from windows 7 to windows 8.
And then, my notebook start to hang. I've noticed that after upgraded to windows 8.
I go to the nearest store (not hp) to format and reinstall back my previous windows edition.
But then this problem is not fixed at all.
I love this notebook.. but it seems getting me more problems.

My computer model is Pavilion dm4-1210tx, os 32-bit.

Please help me.

HI  Hashaw

When you ran the HP support Assistant what was the result? (Link is in previous post) Here is a link to Wireless Networking click here. I am sending you a link to the software and driver page for your computer. click here. Please verify that you have the same version of the network driver. You may want to do a driver roll back in Device Manager, or you may need to update the drivers, as  I am not sure how they restored your system, when they reinstalled Windows 7. Have you checked to ensue all the Windows updates are installed. I am sending along a document on Performing an Hp System Recovery click here. If you still have the recovery partition, you may be able to restore to a time when it was working properly. Please let me know the results.

Finally found the solution after 3 weeks.  Tried and manupulated all drivers and NIC lan card of my hp laptop dv6 7011tx.

UNINSTALL HP Quick Launch which caused the whole lot of problems and do the following

- Shut down laptop

- Remove power cable & battery

- Press power switch for 30 sec

-  Attach power

- Power up laptop without battery

- Switch on wifi ---it works

- Now switch on the laptop with battery

HP quick launch describes itself as "

  Description

This package contains the HP Quick Launch Software, which enables special function keys on supported notebook models to be programmed. For example, the HP Quick Launch Software enables users to press the Fn+ESC keys to view system information. This software works with the supported operating systems. "

Note  :
This is the main problem.  I have found after seeing the internal working of this driver.  It caused the keys to work in its own described way thus overriding the wifi f12 button functionality to change from orange to white or white to orange.

                           After  and when restarting :
Put the computer to sleep and wake it up to find wifi on.

                             On normal shutdown and booting:
                                                                   Wifi works perfectly.

Note to HP:

Please check the working of HP Quick Launch Software.  I could find its algorithm and functioning and its made to override the default windows 8 key designed for HP.

Give me kudos if it works.
Give me kudos if it works. And mark it is a Solution.

Thank you all for support and help.
