Hi,

Please see below, the solution that helped me out on this matter was the second one  ("You can also try setting the BIOS to defaults (as mentioned above").  Keep in mind that I have a HP Pavilion DV6000, Windows 7.

Re: Wireless button stays orange. Will not turn on.

@cattybee

I'm sorry you're running into this wireless issue. Thanks for providing those details. It would also help to have your product number since different dm4 models can have different BIOS version.

I'll also take your wireless driver version number. You can find that in Device Manager

1. [Windows 8] Press Windows key + X

[Windows 7] Click Start and type 'device'

2. Click Device Manager

3. Expand Network Adapters

4. Double-click on Broadcom 4313

5. Click the Driver tab and let me know which version number is shown there. I'll check to see if it is up-to-date.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Wirelss Driver

6. Click the Uninstall button, click OK and Restart Now when prompted.

During the restart, Windows will automatically detect and reinstall the missing driver. This should sort out any software issues if the driver is up-to-date. If it is not, I'll link you to the latest version available on your HP Driver Page.

You can also try setting the BIOS to defaults (as mentioned above).

1. Shutdown

2. Press the Power button and immediately start tapping F10 repeatedly until you see the BIOS screen.

3. Press F9 once you're in BIOS. You won't see a progress bar or anything. Just press F9 once.

4. Then press F10 to Save and Exit. Yes to confirm.

Then the computer will load Windows normally. Test the wireless button and let me know the results :smileyhappy:

I have had the same problem, then realized my wifi adapter got updated. After rolling back the changes, i can now successfully use the wifi button again!

This worked for my "PAVILION DV6-61 Ous Entertainment PC" and I did not have to take my laptop apart.

Thanks

Hi again ,,

i know this says hp support but is there anyone here that will help please..

I am seeing soo many issues of this is there not a fix for this ?

I have tried the hard reset .. nothing

I have tried the reset bois to default .. nothing

I have updated drivers with ones only I am not sure I found the right ones.

I have to connect to wireless for work and have not been able to for the past week

I do not want to trash a computer that works fine other than it cannot connect to the wifi

but it is useless without this,

Any ideas of how to fix this would be appreciated from anyone ...

I came across the solution elsewhere on this site.

Remove battery....pesss start button for a few seconds....reinsert battery....and the problem is solved! It worked for me.

Dont ask me why...!!

The light stays orange or it blinks from time to time and you didnt noticed it? Do you remember what were you doing right before it turns orange? Have you gone through some settings that you are not familiarized with? And last but no least let your laptop rest for at least 30 to 1 hour with the battery out and then try again restoring the the fault Bios steps.
