Right now my internal wireless card is working. I do not know what happened or what changed.
I did not change any settings or new hardware. The most resent thing that happened was that the HP update ran but did not find any updates.
This is the weirdest thing I have ever had to deal with. I will keep My USB wireless network close by though. Who knows how long this will last….
Probably just until the next reboot.

Hey, thanks so much for posting this fix. It worked perfectlyer. The clowns at HP support told me, after having me go through the trouble of reinstalling the OS and drivers that it was a motherboard problem and that for $450 dollars they could fix fix it for me. After talking to the supervisor, the tech told me that since I was a regular customer, they would do it for $250. Wasnt that generous of them esp when all I had to do was go to the mobility center and flip a switch.
It now works perfectly. Problem is that now HP has lost a customer. I will never ever buy another HP product again. They are less than useless.
Again, thanks so much for this solution.

I HATE hp.... they suck because no one has an answer to this issue. I have the same model notebook dv6000 and I will go purchase a mac before paying 50$ for a one time assistance. They must have fell on their scamming little heads. My wirless assistant wont open either and I am tempted to keep calling until someone helps me. If they can annoy us by telling us the same thing over and over then maybe I can annoy them by calling 3 times a day with the same question until they give in and help me. Im a stay at home mom with nothing else to do and I am tempted to keep calling them.

I fixed my DV6000 by reflowing the Nvidia controller with my T-862++ IRDA reflow station (The preheated plate was at 200 degrees c and the IRDA was at 350 degrees C)... It works like a charm now...
You should be able to fix it with hotair (Hotair gun, torch or equal)
I will not promiss anything, but try it... And do not blame me if you **bleep** your computer up (Brick the cheapset by giving it to much heat)
And no a hairdryer will simply not get hot enough to fix this issue

Got 3 HP pavilion DV series laptops.
First, the display was dead in all the three machines. The service personnel told me that it was because of the NVIDIA failure in this model. Spent about $500 for all the three machines and got it serviced.
It did not last even for 2 months. Out of 3 machines, 2 have the same problem again.
The third machine starts flickering now. Don't know how long it is going to sustain.
Already, the front wifi switch became useless and stays orange always.
Never in my life will I think about HP again.

Resolved this, via the post from CORESYSIT, Thank you very much! Here is a repost of that solution.
I was having the same issue, and gave up a long time ago (year) and had this laptop just put away, bought
a new one.... thenmy kids asked about it, if they could use it so I decided to see if I could, and tried the
various solutions.
We'll see if it continues to work.
RePost from coresysit here:
I have worked on several laptops with this problem. (I work with a quite a few HP laptops and desktops)
So far I'm 100% for resolving this solution.
I just did another one today. It was a HP Pavilion 64xx series.
1. Remove the battery and unplug the power.
2. On the bottom of the computer remove the cover that houses the wireless card. It's a small card with 2 leads that's screwed to the motherboard. There is also a motherboard battery stored in there as well. (At least there has been on the last few)
3. Disconnect the Battery and very carefully remove the network card.
4. With the battery and network card removed... Boot up your computer.
5. Shut the computer down after it has completely boot up.
6. Reconnect the wireless card and battery and replace cover and battery.
7. Boot system back up.
So far this has worked everytime.
NOTE: I'm very good about keeping my BIOS and Firwares up to date. This may be a factor. (Something to consider doing before the above process)
I don't know why this works or what causes the problem in the first place.Chances are it's some kind of conflict with OS updates and 3rd party software.
I hope this helps.

Hi all,
I know a trick to resolve this problem... It works but I do not know why?!? It is EASY and SURE.
I learned this procedure by an italian forum (a guy has recieved this procedure from the HP assistance)
1- switch off the laptop and remove the battery. Leave the laptop switch off at least for 2 hour
2- without battery and plug, push the "start button" for 1 minute
3- switch on your laptop and enjoi the "wireless switch"
Bye bye Fede

This happens to me all the time! HP wireless usually works but every now and again the wireless icon on the panel stays orange when it should be blue. I tried everything that everyone else on this forum has tried but one thing seems to correct it quick and easy.
If anyone tries this, please reply to as to whether or not it works for you so that others may be updated.
Status: The computer is on but the wireless icon will not seem to change from orange to blue.
At this point, try the following:
1: Press the POWER BUTTON just one quick time to initiate sleep mode. The screen will go black.
2: Press the POWER BUTTON once more to bring the computer out of sleep mode but IMMEDIATELY AFTER PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON, PRESS THE WIFI BUTTON ABRUPTLY (AND REPEATEDLY IF NECESSARY) AND IT TURNS BLUE!
This is not a solution but it is a workaround as it works for me each and every time. I hope that you guys have the same luck!
Please respond and let me know what happened....
For you techies, this may point you in the right direction for a permanent fix. The fact that this works by manually starting the wifi during the startup process, it may very well be a startup issue.
