I was a bit disapointed with the wifi performance of my old Probook 6560b which is running windows 10 64 pro very nicely and has been upgraded to 12g RAM. My router supports up to 1300mbs but my Notebook with broadcom wifi module was only connecting at 70mps. After checking the Maintenance and service manual I noticed that the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, 3×3 a/b/g/n card is shown as being compatible with the Elite book but misread this as being compatible with the Probook. I found one on ebay for about £15. The HP part number is 572511-001 and I guess you should just use the HP variant.
Quite easy to change
Remove the power adapter and the battery
Remove the bottom cover
Remove the WWAN card (2 screws) detach the two cables (main & aux)
Remove the old wifi card (2 screws) detach the two cables
Insert the new 6300 card and connect the two cables that went to the old card.
Replace the WWAN card - As I am never going to use WWAN I used one of the cables that was connected to that card and plugged it onto the new wifi card as it has 3 antenna connectors. Connect the remaning wire to the WWAN card to stop it being loose and possibly causing problems.
Put everything back together again and turn on.
After about a minute the card is recognised and I get a minimum connection speed of 300mbs and connect at 5g. Nice cheap upgrade. Not sure why its not listed as being compatible in the service manual but I have been using it now for about 5 days with no problems.
Not sure if all of the various motherboards will be compatible - My one has an Intel I5-2410m processor with WWAN support, on board Intel HD3000 graphics so I think it HM65.
Next will be a samsung SSD - hopefully all the problems with the probook supporting SSD are now history. I did intend to get a new laptop but at the moment this one is working so well and the build quality is excellent so why spend more money?

Those wifi cards were listed at the time the laptop was made only not later. So anything you do later is DIY.

BTW, Millions of folks have gone back from Win10 to their prior O/S -- something you don't hear about from MS. by WAWood but ALL to TRUE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those that want HD Gaming should plan to invest in a Gaming Laptop to handle those requirements. Eamples GTA V or Crysis 3.
