I have a ZBook 15 G3 with the great 512GB M.2 SSD drive.

- At some point after introducing a secondary 3.5" SATA SSD drive, the M.2 drive was getting disconnected. When that happeend, Windows hanged.  And mSata drive was afterwards not detected unless I did a HW reboot (long press of power button).

- When looking for a solution online, I kept finding this thread. So I update here, as the problem is very similar.

- Even at some point I think I've got detection problems of the mSata drive.

This is my current SOLUTION: uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.

- My hypothesis is this software is designed for having the M.2 drive as fast cache drive for a larger 3.5" non-SSD. This software does not seem comfortable with having M.2 512GB as primary, and SATA SSD drive as secondary.

[offtopic]I got to this situation as I had installed every possible driver to fix stability problems with the Thurnderbolt docking. Fortunately, that has also been fixed, as HP released a 1GB package with every required update to recover stability of the ZBook when used with the Thurderbolt docking.
