Hi,
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.
Does the Taskbar work in this mode?
To exit Safe Mode, restart the notebook.

Hi,
Can you post back with the following.
1. The full Model No. and Product No. of your CQ62 series notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.
2. The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).
3. When you click the Start Menu does anything happen?
Regards,
DP-K

Hi
Compac Pressario CQ 62 (2010)
Windows 7 Home Prem OA HP, 32-bit
When the task bar freezes the Start Menu is also frozen. I find the bar freezes while I'm working on the computer and I have to use Control Alt Delete and access Task Manager and use Switch To to get operation back.
Thank you

Hi,
You're welcome
Before try the procedure below, can you edit your previous post ( select edit from the options menu to the top right of your post ) and remove the Product Key # and Serial No. as these are personal to you.
*******************************************************************************
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, click Computer, left click Local Disc C once to highlight it, right click Local Disc C and select Properties. Click the Tools tab and then click the button to 'Check the Drive for Errors'. In the following window make sure both boxes are ticked and then click Start. Agree to schedule the check at the next system restart and then restart the notebook - this process can take a couple of hours to complete before loading back into Windows.
Has this helped the issue?
Regards,
DP-K

Hi,
Thanks for the information, but unfortunately I need the exact Model No. of your notebook - you should be able to find this from the list Here.
Let me know which one.
