Hi,
I'm seeking the solution to the above question that was asked here on
04-03-2014 06:17 PM but I could find no answer to the part mentioning:
Then it said I had to save changes and exit (F10), and when it restarts it will give a warning message (operating system boot mode change (021) ), one has to type a 4-digit number followed by ENTER to complete the changes made, or ESC to cancel. It just says additionally that for more information, I should visit http://www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup .
Problem is that at this point, only ESC works, but I am not able to type in a 4-digit code, ENTER, or anything except the ESC button?
So my question is what I can do to enter the 4-digit code+Enter if the promt following the http://www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup . is frozen (not blinking)
This is the problem I have been facing and I'd like to thank in advance for your advice.

Hello @asapak ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the computer is experiencing a "operating system boot mode change (021)" error message. I'll do my best to assist you!
Normally, this issue occurs after you've made changes, usually referencing Secure Boot. To enter the 4-digit password, you may need to try another keyboard, or press ESC to undo the changes.

Hi,
thank you for your prompt help but, frankly, I don't think this is the solution (I didn't try, as I had already found the solution elswhere, having seen the suggested solutions here and being under time pressure).
Fortunately, I bumped into this http://forum.clubedohardware.com.br/topic/1023831-resolvido-resolvido-notebook-hp-pavilion-g4-2250br... (it is in Portuguese) where this fine gentleman finally did this:
Legacy boot enabled, secure boot disabled, ... he switched from booting from the CD unit to booting from HDD and that was it... though the prompt following the http://www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup was still not blinking (which is confusing and maybe serves as a deterent) I could the type in a 4-digit code + ENTER end and it worked.
As this guy says it looks foolish and he discovered that accidentally, it worked for me as well and I recommend this to all who can' get through the same problem.
Thank you anyway and especially to the portugese speaking guy I didn't manage to contact to thank.
Best wishes to all
asapak
