Hi - I haven't found solution in forum, so i type new topic.
I bought laptop from first owner few months ago and realised that bios administration is locked up. Unfortunately this type of laptop is well protected against reseting to default. Battery replacement doesnt help. Small onboard battery replacemnt for some time doesnt help either - still requires admin password.
Any piece of advice if there is ANY solution? Just need change boot media... 😕

Dear Customer,
Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you.
This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
- Please have a look at this link.

- Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

Contact HP.

When talking to the HP rep ask to escalate your service request.
Or download these files.

After restore remove flash drive.
Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot. ”If HDD is installed remove before booting.”
At C:\OUTPUT type CD.. “Then hit enter”
Type HPBR “Then hit enter”

Select #3 re-program.
Press “S” to save system information.
Type HPBR and hit enter.

Thank you for quick suggestions - on which basis i got now unlocked laptop!!!
I went throught official way. Clicked through tons of hp pages to get to live chat - few hours later i have received unlocking cms.bin. Did it according to instructions - bin file on clear flash. 1. usb - failed 2. usb - failed 3. - success! I doubt it is dependant to usb port, but last try was my bingo.
Thanks to hp support too - didnt expected solution so soon.
Bye!

Hi - as the first answer mentions, for few types of laptops it won't work - evidently you are the one. Try it throught hp support - via generated unique bios reset file.
This is my experience - good luck to you.
