Hi and Morning to all,
We have a serious discussion on this topic now.
Firstly as windows 10 rolled out as a free upgrade, it was available for all the systems running windows. We need to make sure that the device is compatible with windows 10.
As your system had windows 7 initially, and also you did the free upgrade for windows 10. So, in case you recover using the original windows 7 recovery media, you always have the option of upgrading the system to windows 10.
Restoring the BIOS also helps.
If the USB are not working, I will suggest to disconnect all the USB devices, other than the mouse and keyboard and run a hardware test on the USB, from the f2.
In case there is a failire ID, the port is bad.
If the device is not under warranty, you can also use USB root hubs that can be purchased online.
A new harddrive should be best when the working fails, and you run out of all teh options.
