Hi
recently I have formated my hard drive, even the recovery part (because suddenly windows 7 did not want to boot up, and also the fan error occured, which I have repaired by taking my laptop appart and wiping of the dust, the PROBLEM OF NOT BOOTING UP continued, so I switched the hard drive}. . Then I normally installed Windows 7 on a completely new hard drive.
Everything is ok except, evrytime I install AMD graphics driver ( tried this at least three times, by reinstalling windows again and again}, after reboot, it wont boot up pass the windows 7 loading screen.
It just freezes on a startup screen. - and yes I have installed chipset drivers and recommended drivers FIRST - before installing AMD driver - from http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv7-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/508...
Cant even run in safe mode, which also freezes on startup ....
So I am assuming, that there has to be something wrong with the AMD driver.
Any advice please ?

Hi @Mike569,
Try not install the AMD driver after installed Windows 7. Go to your Device Manager to check if any driver listed under Display adapter. If there is no driver listed, please use Scan for hardware changes in the Action Button on the top. If there is a driver listed, please right click it to update the driver.
Then you can run the HP Support Assistant to update your drivers.
Also, check if all Windows Updates installed.

Hi @Mike569,
Welcome to the HP Forums! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
Thank you for posting. I have read your post, and I understand that your laptop will boot up after installed the AMD driver. I want to help with that.
Do you have a dual processor? If you have a dual processor, please install the switchable graphic driver. If not, please choose the other one.
Let me know if it works then.

Thank you for your answer, My CPU is COre i 7
I tried to install the switchable GPU driver for AMD/Intel, but it wont install. Everytime i try to install it stops, saying my computer does not meet the minimal requirements, same goes for Intel HD graphics card driver.
But strangely AMD drivers ( which also includes the Intel one) installs OK, but in the end it requires rebooting my laptop, and once it reboots, Im lost. It just can not get past the boot screen. I tried to set switchable mode in bios to fixed, and It has passed through the boot screen, however a Blue screen of death 0x00000116 error appeared.....
I have tried almost every version of AMD driver, but thi error occurs everytime.
What shouldI do please ?
