Hello Angaahai ;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about upgrading your CPU and wanted to help.

This link is to the HP Product page for your PC:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Compaq-Presario-CQ42-Notebook-PC-series/4121902/model/4149187/ma...

If you right-click on the Maintenance and Service manual entry, you can download that PDF file to your PC.  On page 94, it lists the compatible processors, and on the next page, it starts the removal and replacement procedures.

Unless you have done something like this numerous times before, I would advise against doing it yourself.  It is very difficult to do, and its easy to break something in the process.  It would be better to have a service facility skilled in working on laptops do this for you.

Good Luck
