Hi,

I have Compaq Presario CQ57-400SO Notebook. Currently it is having AMD E300 1.30-GHz processor (dual core,

18 W) 1mb L2 Cache.

I have seen in the Maintenance and Service guide http://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1022299838.pdf that Intel Core i5 also comes with the laptops of CQ57 series.

Can I install "Intel Core i5-2430M 2.40-GHz processor (1333-MHz FSB, 3.0-MB L3 cache, dual core, 35 W)" on my notebook?

Your replies would be highly appreciable!

Hi:

You cannot mix AMD and Intel hardware. The processors and motherboards are totally different.

If there are better AMD processors listed in the service manual to upgrade to (like the E450), you would have to select one of those.

I personally don't think that upgrade would be worth the hassle of taking the notebook apart and possibly wrecking it in the process.
