So, I was unboxing my HP Laptop, and I found an alarming ticker on the box that had Product name, number, information about the batter, etc. When I came accross the bottom of the sticker where it said:

"WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer"

I would like to know the following:

  • What the chemical is
  • Where it is located
  • What risk it poses to me, the consumer.

Thank you for your assistance

Hello marjan:

Nothing to be to concern with there are lots of chemicals used. USA requires by law that companies to put warnings on their products. You would need to take caution when breaking down a computer. Here I founf this it it may be help full it talks about various chemicals used in computers.

Also See link below, California is more proactive when it comes to Consumer Protection Laws, but who knows what you have exposure to can cause cancer, just the chemicals that leech into our drinking water supply makes my head explode. And if you dont drink tap water you shower and wash your clothing in it.
