Hi forum!
I've just upgraded an old HP nc6120 notebook from XP to Windows 7. The system model is PG824ET # ABU. Driver Manager reports the video controller as unknown device, with hardware Ids:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792&SUBSYS_099C103C&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792&SUBSYS_099C103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792&CC_038000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792&CC_0380
I've not done much driver updating before, & am not sure how to get one from a reliable site.
Thanks for any help, Russ
(In case it's relevant, the Compatible Ids are:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_038000
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_0380
PCI\VEN_8086
PCI\CC_038000
PCI\CC_0380)

Hi:
The onboard Intel graphics adapter in your PC is not completely capable of running W7.
There are no W7 drivers for it because it cannot run the Windows Aero feature.
I found a way a while ago to get a notebook graphics adapter to work on many notebook and desktop models with the Intel 910/915 chipset and the GMA900 graphics adapter.
If it works, you will be able to have all graphics capabilities except Windows Aero.
This will only work for Windows 7, 32 bit.
Here is what you need to do...
Download and run this Vista driver. You will get an unsupported operating system error. Close out of any error windows.
Go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters category. Click on the Standard VGA Adapter.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software method, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
After you reboot, your PC should have decent graphics.

Hi-
I am having the same problem but for Win10 - and despite trying suggestions, can't get the driver to install - hs anyone managed to accomplish this or does anyone have any further ideas at all?
Laptop works great with 10, except for the lack of 'sleep' option - which is a nightmare - hence needing the display driver from whence it stems, apparently?
Any assistence greatfully received -
db
