All...

I struggeld like hell to find the drivers.....

ended up using Dell IRDA drivers and all sorts...

Now, I have a full driver extract to help people who had the same problem as I did.

If anyone has some space, I'm more than willing to upload these.

As I mention..... the drivers work flawlessly, and integrate with the hardware very well....

The OS I used to build Windows 7 was an OEM distibution PRE-SP1.

All of the files are VirusScanned with McAfee.

Folders which I extracted using "DriverMax" are:

BiometricDevice
Bluetooth
Display
hdc
MEDIA
Modem
MTD
Net
PCMCIA
SDHost
SmartCardReader
System
USB

PM me if you want these or have a server for them.

Maybe HP could add them to their website!!!!

Thank you for the very useful information. I just upgraded the nc6400 to Windows 7 this weekend. Windows Update actually took care of most of the drivers after a few days. I only needed to obtain the TI driver, SP43509, which was found at:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...

After loading this driver, Device Manager is all green...well, at least no yellow

I was able to use SP43509 to clear those two missing drivers.

How do I PM you?  If you could post the drivers to a shared dropbox folder or some other means...that would be great!  If not, I could share a dropbox folder that you could put them into.  Let me know!

When you extract the folder, it will create each extracted driver in it's relevant sub folders.

the easiest way for the drivers to be installed is..

Device Manager > Select unknown device, or device requiring the driver (right click) > Update Driver > Browse to main "newly" extracted Driver Folder.

Tell windows to search subfolders.

Windows will then find the driver for the missing device and install it automatically from the files you have extracted from the download..

My NC6400 Part Number is a RM100ET#ABU

DISCLAIMER.....(even though I am confident that they will work)

Please Note - Only because the drivers work on my Laptop, doesnt necassarily mean they will work on yours....

But.....

All files are virus scanned with 3 AV scanners.. (Kaspersky, McAfee, Avast) and found to be clean.

Also.

I accept no responsibility for the loss of data, corruption or damage incorrectly installed driver COULD cause.

I have just installed Windows 7 on my HP Compaq nc 6400 and everything seems to be working fine except the sound. There is no sound and there is an X by the volume control. Driver is installed and when I ttry to update it it says the latest version is updated. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
