correct adapter for notebooks 2540p

I have bought an adapter which was sold to me as compatible for my Elitebook 2540p with an output 1.9V and 4.74A.  But the original adapter is 1.85V and 3.5A.  I tried to check the correct output in the HP web, and the Elitebook 2540p manual only gives me the number part for compatible adapter non-PFC adapter 613152-001 or PFC adapter 613161-001 but cannot find the voltage or ampere specs of either.   Can I use 1.9V / 4.74A instead of 1.85V / 3.4A. Will it damage laptop? Should I get a PFC adapter? is this better.  Many thanks for any help

The 65 watt adapter is standard but the 90 watt is used in its place routinely. The voltage difference will not cause issues. The 65 watt is an 18.5/3.5 and the 90 watt is usually a 19/4.74 but are used interchangeably.

Hello Huffer,  I was under the impression and was told that the 19V 90W adapter would push the EliteBook and it would run in general at slightly higher temperature, or that the fan would have to compensate for this by coming-on more often.  Is there any evidence for this? Thanks

By whom? The computer pulls current from the adapter. The adapter does not push anything. The computer will take the power it needs. All that will happen with the higher power adapter is that the battery will charge faster.
