I just purchased a new HP Pavilion dm4 laptop and when typing in Word the cursor keeps jumping around. I have turned off the touch pad and it is still doing it. I have updated all software, both MS and Windows 7. Anyone having the same issue?

HP dm4t purchased 2012-02-11
Cursor jumps around in Word and in Eudora OSE. This is unacceptable. This defect has been reported elsewhere and appears that it has not been fixed. This defect leads to errors, deletions, and loss of text.
What is the solution?

very loghtlyon I've got the same problem abovethe a in liss bad aptothe commy
{Example above}
I've got the exact same problem on a very lightly used dm4-2165dx. Product# QE375UA#ABA.
A user in my company used the laptop for a few weeks and complained about the kybd, then he replaced the laptop with a ThinkPad.
Last night I put Windows 8 on the system to test Win8 out. The jumping cursor problem is so bad it is making this machine unusable. I've had to reposition the cursor at least 12 times just while typing these 2 sentences.
What can be done to fix this? New keyboard? BIOS flash?
Thanks,
Steve

I chatted with hp customer service regarding this problem. He recommended I reload the driver for the ALPS - it worked!!! No more jumping cursor!!! (Went through a lot of suggestions before finding this resolution.)
