I use an HP laptop Pavilion 9500. Somehow the icons on my desktop are large, about 2" and the display screen for the Internet, etc. also grew larger. Perhaps it has to do with my granddaughter playing games from the net and the settings were changed, but I would like to set them back to their original size.

Hi Connie,

It is likely that the icon size has been changed. Please follow the instructions below to customize the icon size.

1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.

2. Double-click the display icon or text link. This will open a window called Display Properties.

3. Click Appearance, and then click Item.

4. Click Icon.

5. Change the size of the icons by adding a larger or smaller number in the Size box that appears to the right. A larger number will create a larger icon and a small number will create a smaller icon.

6. Click OK to accept the resized icons and font.

If you find that this does not work, it is possible that the screen resolution needs to be changed. Screen Resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. Microsoft has an article about how to change your screen resolution here.

We hope this helps!

I'm having the same problem (on my new dv5), and I don't think that's the solution.

My icons are ridiculously large (and just got larger: I think I hit some keystroke by accident?), but again, the display is set for Smaller (100%).  HOWEVER, the text on the screen (names of programs and so forth) is normal, and my wallpaper APPEARS to be at normal resolution.  So I think it's some sort of icon size setting that I just can't find how to adjust...or rather, de-adjust.

HP?  Kindly provide a fix for this.

I was having the same problem, and actually just posted to the list indicating that.

I then log out and start playing around the deskop and found the solution.

If you right click your mouse on the main screen, you get the option to view, which offers the choice of small, medium, or large ikons.  I found it set on large.  I changed it to medium.

standard-icon-sizeHi,

Right-click the desktop,

point to View,

and then click Large IconsMedium Icons, or Classic Icons.

(Classic icons are the smallest size.)

Thanks
