I have an HP Pavilion dv7-1451nr laptop. The other day, it would no longer boot up. I tried a hard reset, and a bios recovery, both to no avail. The LED code, indicates a CPU failure. I cannot afford to buy a new laptop. I have the technical knowledge to repair this one; I put together my last 3 desktops, and repaired my last notebook. My problem is a lack of available info from HP.

I need to know the model of the motherboard, so I can determine what other AMD mobile CPU's will fit the board.

I searched for exact replacements, only 3 options were found, 2 used (a big risk) and a new one from HP for $219.00 ( a bit pricey for an older CPU).

The specifics as best I can give are: HP Pavilion dv7-1451nr notebook, Prod. # NV204UA#ABA, Ser. # {Removed for privacy}, Processor- AMD Turion X2 dual core mobile ZM-82/2.2 ghz (Lion/Puma)/1800 mhz FSB, 2MB  Lvl2 cache, 32 watt, Memory- 4 gb of DDR2 RAM, OS- Fresh install (months prior to CPU fail) of Windows 7  Home Premium 64 bit (Retail version, not oem).

Hopefully someone out there can help, thanks.

Took me about 5 mins as the manuals section of the support page didn't have a service and maintenance guide for your computer. I then searched for "dv7 manuals" and got several different manuals for HP dv7 computers but they were all a variety of Intel based machines. Refined my search and located several AMD based.
