I modded sp45166, it was originally only for hermosa soundchip added your hardwareID (Waikiki5047) plus some adjustment for ports, here

Please make sure you have uninstalled the previous version of audio driver, use "uninstall a program" in control panel.

reboot, if after reboot, it automatically detect the driver, go to device manager, right click and choose uninstall and delete the driver, reboot one more time.

Download above driver, run installer first, if it fail use device manager to install it.

Please report for the result.

I did your steps, I was able to get the driver installed.  But Windows 7 shows no sound.  I've rebooted and try the steps the different way, still no sound.  It's saying "No Audio Device Installed".

I'll try other version to mod, keep checking this thread

🙂 Ok.  I thank you very much Rakhmad for helping me.  Getting the sound on my laptop working better with Windows 7 is a plus.

I'm not so optimistic with the current mod, since it is based on hermosa chip, not waikiki one.

Try here

Uninstall the current driver, reboot and do instalation using device manager, choose update.

No luck 😞 the steps I'm taking is, go to Device Manager.  Right click on my sound and choose "Update Driver Software...", then "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", then click on the "Have Disk..." button.  From there I then go to the W7-32 folder with the .inf file to install.  I did this with the last modded driver you provided.  It would somewhat install, but before reboot and after, X by speaker icon in taskbar.

It seems this Conexant HD Audio wasn't very popular for laptops.  It's been a pain, yet this laptop is capable of Vista.  But Windows 7 always likes telling me "The best driver software for your device is already installed".  I've seen this with my desktop when I was using Windows 7 with my ATI RADEON X700.  I know that most of the time, when switching from XP to Vista, there's a driver that almost always, with me, works better than the one that comes with the operating system.

So sorry, I can not find any working Win7 for waikiki.

Better use Vista driver with its bug.

Hopefully you'll find the suitable driver.

Good luck

First off, thanks Rakhmad for helping out.  It was worth it because I never thought I would get help with this type of audio.  I'll be staying with the Vista driver.  I doubt there'll be any type of Windows 7 driver for this audio alone.  Maybe a future driver for another will come along that can be used for mine.  We'll have to see.

A friend of mine have the early model of dv2000, the same as yours, I will try to borrow his notebook to test some sound drivers. I'll PM you and post in this thread if I manage to make the mod.

The mod would be a lot more easy if I have notebook in hand. But once again no promises.

I'll find to find my free time to mod it.

Sounds good!  We'll see what happens, hopefully you'll have better luck with using a notebook like mine. 🙂  You can PM me or I'll keep checking the thread.  Thanks for continuing to help me. 🙂
