i want to use a usb to recover the bios
i have been searching for a day. the info is all over the place. i have the hp utility that put the files and folders on the disk.
i hold down windows key and the b key but nothing happened. i tried holding all 4 arrow keys nothing.but others say to get bin and sig files .
is there someone who can tell me step by step how to recover the bios?

I see the post here languishing so in case you still need the infomation:
After you initiate the Windows key + B for a few seconds, the screen may not respond for longer than the forty seconds; give it longer than you feel comfortable - maybe 90 seconds or even longer. Maybe two minutes. You may have to repeat the process more than one time to get a response.
That is all I have for this one - I hope it helps!

Yes ... my daughter owns a HP Pavillion dv9000 and one of her associates attempted an update to Win 7 and failed.
She has asked me to pursue information and effect a repair. I do believe the BIOS is corrupted as there is no POST.
Are there any others who have experienced problems in this neighborhood, and is there any advice concerning how to get this notebook back up and running with its normal OS of Vista. We have the Vistas OS as well as Win XP Pro. I have mentioned to her that either will perform well on a small 160GHz HDD. Can anyone help me with some advice and direction?...Thank you.

The hard drive may have failed and is causing a no-boot. Try removing it to see if the laptop will boot into BIOS- F10 at power on.
You might also try a hard reset.Disconnect all external devices first.
1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.
4-power on
