find original configuration

I have a HP laptop with a Serial Number.

Can I find the original configuration such has which wifi card, etc of the laptop using the Serial Number?

I wasn't able to, so finding drivers was a trial and error process following installation of Window 7 Home Premium.

That parts list helped with the wifi and bluetooth.

No help for choosing between AMD and Intel for graphics driver which someone on these forums was able to help.

It lists the system board as having UMA HM55 which is a Intel graphics chip.

You can also cross-reference the Part Nos. with the Maintenance & Service Guide.

Why is there a choice of the AMD driver?

Also, there are 4 choices for the wireless card on the Drivers page for this model.

It does not make sense to me.

Hi,

I think HP include the drivers for all hardwarware specifications of a particular seies - ie g7-1xxx - but yes, it can lead to a little confusion.
