this is the message I get after installing W8.1 on my Elitebook 2530p and trying to use my fingerprint reader:
Your fingerprint reader has stopped working properly because a compatible driver isn't available for this version of Windows.
The model name of your fingerprint reader is AES2501/AES2810. This device is distributed by many different PC manufacturers.
To find out if an updated version of your fingerprint reader is available, contact your device or PC manufacturer.
Would anyone know which driver to use?

Hi
Open Device Manager
In the Device Manager menu, whichever way you got to it, find the driver that is missing (yellow question mark).
-Right click on that driver and go to “Properties”
-In the properties menu, click on the “Details” tab.
-In the details tab, click the dropdown and select “Device Id’s
When you have that sub menu opened up below, you should see a sentence containing a couple things you need.
-This is what it would look like for example:
-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03D1&SUBSYS_14041565&REV_A2 (Might be a couple extra lines containing similar stuff, but the main things you need are the VEN and DEV
Request you to Copy it and provide the ID so that i can provide you the right link for the download.

Hello Manjunath and thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately under the details tab there is no device ID's... I tried all names with ID but was not able to find anything approaching a driver ID with VEN and DEV.
Any other way?
