I have a big problem with my notebook:

HP g62-b04SL

Serial {Removed for privacy}

I deleted all partitions and I installed ubuntu. Due to some problem with brightness keys I read on the web that someone has tried to upgrade the bios. But without windows (no linux procedure) I upgrade the bios with rescue procedure: WIN + B key on startup and a fat32 usb key with new bios.

So now my pc is dead Robot Sad

I read this recovery method from hp web site:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02723600

1) partition HP_TOOLS is erased.

2) I did understand if the usb key MUST be bootable.

3) Where I can find the right bios?

Here I found two bios version (none work):

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=it&cc=it&dlc=it&sw_lang=&product=4301...

4) This tool don't write on "current" folder in usb key

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-92987-1&cc=it&dlc=it&lc=it&...

5) When I try WIN + B procedure I can see the led blinking on usb key but nothing appen.

Probably the cost of care is higher than the value of the notebook. So I have to use it as a paperweight? Robot Frustrated

Thanks, Nicola.

I resolved my problem here (without any help form HP):

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/35272-HP-Insyde-BIOS-recovery-steps/page5

The bios 01439.fd are encripted by hp so we cannot use it for save our notebook.

Fortunately, someone has created a tool of salvation: phoenixtool211

With this tool you can decript the file 01439.fd and obtain our .bin and .sig files. Please refer to the link above.

Hello MURHAF.  I understand your notebook won't boot.

I'd like you to confirm which CAPS LOCK code you're getting by look at this document.

What notebook do you own?  This document can show you how to properly identify it.

Have a great day!
