I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore...

Drivers - we don't need no stink'n drivers...

HP Envy 14/ATI Mobilty 5650 - - - the latest official driver on the HP site is broken - after a clean install - you can't run any 3D Applications using it... When I tried to update to newer versions - I get the HDMI port not working... I had this problem with Win7x64...

Now that I've upgraded to Windows 10 - I can not get any driver pack to work... The card remains unrecognized by Windows...

This will be the last AMD or HP product I ever buy - neither one of these companies have any desire to support their customer base - while these products may not be the newest - they still work fine and certainly have a viable service left...

I am one unhappy customer...

Note: Does anyone have an email address for anyone in HP Management that I can refer my complaint to - as usual - they make it impossible to find someone on their website...

Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott, I fully agree with your comments. My notebook (HP G62-b98ED)  is 4.5 years old, so did expect some aftersale service from HP, but none. Only contact via HP Support forum, showing many posts about same kind of issues, but no solutions. Micosoft will do nothing I suppose, based on current numbers of updates, over 99% were succesfull ! The rest should find out by themselves.....

Yeah, it definitely seems like HP hasn't updated laptops that are more than 4-5 years old in a while.

I got my laptop last year so I was lucky. The drivers they released for my model actually did work and fixed the HDMI issue.

Perhaps AMD will fix it in their next driver if you guys report it to them.

Hi Folks,

Thanks guys - yeah - I reported it over on AMD as well... After hours and hours spent looking for solutiuons - it seems this same problem is being reported all over the place as I've found hundreds of related posts...

Have a good day...

Scott

Even though I rolled back to Win 7, thought I'd have another go following recommendation from DMAT86.

So re-installed Win 10

Followed the process of using DDU, has to be run as administrator by the way, and then installed the AMD files direct from HP: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71870.exe

As recommended in this thread:

 http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/HDMI-issue-with-AMD-card-in-Windows-10-has-b...

Display adapter now Micorsoft Basic Adapter and won't update to the HP sourced drivers with error "The best driver for your hardware is already installed".

Needless to say no HDMI output.

BTW - Envy 14 Notebook, Model VX778AAR

benvious, I should have clarified that those drivers were from the drivers page for my laptop. I think a lot of the newer laptops have received W10 drivers from HP as well.

But as others with older laptops have posted in this thread, apparently some of the older laptops aren't compatible with these drivers.

You should keep an eye out for when/if HP releases drivers for your laptop.

Thanks, DMAT86 not dissing you just trying to be specific. It could have worked but didn't.

Have raised a fault with AMD as follows:

To: TECH.SUPPORT@CRMPRD.AMD.COM
Subject: HDMI Not Available Win10

HDMI Not Available Win10 HP Envy 14 Notebook Model VX778AAR.

AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series (Driver Id'd) Current faulty driver: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc Date: 15/07/2015 V: 15.200.1046.2 Via windows update.

Also tried and also faulty: Catalyst 15.7.1 & Graphics Driver Installer for Windows 10 64-Bit AMD Catalyst Display Driver version 15.20.1062.1002 Compatible Operating Systems: Windows 10 64bit.

Have used Guru3D DDU to reset registry and drivers between versions.

Win 7 HDMI port worked, to Win 10 no HDMI screen detected.

Now external screen powers down after no input.

Maybe you could force install the the Omega 14.12 drivers? I've read that some people may have had success doing that.
