Unfortunately, i didn't read your post before i got the black little toy.

but for real usage, it got me from 55C to 50C for CPU temp. (normal IE and surfing forums).

which didn't meet my target  (< 40C), but not as worst as the forum said.

Anyone got the result for the Targus PAD which HP is selling ?

I was using an HP Envy 17 with core i7 CPU.

I have a HP Pavilion  dv6-1253cl laptop. Heat is a big issue with me since i use this laptop for gaming. I was compelled to purchase a cooling pad to help lower usual temperatures of 70 Celsius when gaming (extremely uncomfortable especially for my left hand). I got the CoolerMaster X2 and even though it is not perfect (i cannot focus the wind flow to the CPU and that blue light is kind of cheesy) it has helped me lower the temperature of the laptop when gaming to around 60 Celsius (10 degree improvement).

I also have to use one of those compressed air bottles for computer cleaning on the CPU vents under the laptop, once a month. All other cooling pads out there did not convince me, but this one is helping some.

Hope this helps you guys out.

I must say HP chat support was worthless when i first contacted them with this issue las summer. Their "solution" for me was for me to buy me a desktop computer for gaming. Worthless advice!

ok so heres what i want to know... i just payed over a thousand dollars on a computer and now you want me to pay 40 and get a cooling pad? no wrong is there any other way to fix HP'S difective product?

Actually i personally don't want you to do anything. I am merely contributing my experience in the matter in the hopes that it will help you make up your own mind as to how best to address the issue. What you do is entirely your decision, not mine.

Best of luck.

HP should admit that they designed a bad product and recall / replace these laptops.  Mine is completely dead now.  The high heat kept crashing the machine and has now crashed the hard drive.

If they won't make this right, I may NEVER buy any HP product again!

Andrei Mihai,

I was also having this issue with my HP Pavillion D4-1155se. I spoke the HP Customer Service Techs which have always been a excellent resource.

They had me go through the update of the bios system. Prior to doing this my computer was running 105 F. After performing this function the temp has dropped to 82F. Still seems a little high but am watching  it and was told to connect back with them if temp continues to run this high and was told I may have to ship computer back to company for continued observation and fix.

Hope this helps,

Darrell

Hi,

i have HP Pavilion dv6-2170ee (Intel i7-720QM which is known for high temp.) and it was getting sooooo hot, so i did this....

- open 'Control Panel'

- open 'Power Options'

- open ur current power plan (eg: Balanced)

- click 'Change plan settings'

- click 'Change advanced power settings'

- click 'Processor power management'

- click 'System cooling policy'

- change all form 'Active' to 'passive'

that did the job and now it's 55 to 69 Celsius w/o any cooling pad

and w/o any side effects to the processing power...

hope this helps... 🙂

Another option that has been effective has been to use a shop vac and suck the lint through the round fan air port on the bottom of the laptop.  That took care of my cooling issues.  I don't know of any issues with this approach.  Does anyone else?  Does that affect the warranty?
