I find the light behind the f5 key to be most annoying when i am trying to use the keyboard with the backlit feature turned off.  There must be some way to turn this light off but i can't figure it out.  Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

I am not here to defend, critique, or otherwise get into a shouting match over a tiny light on a computer keyboard.  Please accept my utmost sympathy for the fact that this little light is annoying, it is making you nuts, and the light is on the list of things that you hate most in this world.

I can offer a Workaround that does work.  I have used this solution on several tiny annoying LED lights around the office, on a particularly annoying bright blue light on the DVR box, and on a relentless blinking light on an old clock:

Hahaha.... What a great answer.  It is so simple it is hard to believe i didn't think of it.  I'm just going to use some black electrical tape.

Thanks for the help....

But the light doesn't just come through the surface of the key.  It also comes around the edges.  So I don't think electrical tape is really gonna work (unless you take out the key and put tape underneath it).

Thanks for the comment and you are correct about the light shining around the key.  However the tape does fix the problem for me.  By way of explanation, the way the led shines through the key is like a flashlight shining right into my eyes when using the keyboard.  The small piece of electrical tape on the face of the f5 key covers up the flashlight like glare coming through the key leaving only the indirect glow around the key which doesn't bother me.

Nice to eliminate a small irritation.  Thanks again....

So can you explain how that solves the light problem?  Does this apply to the Spectre x360?  Is there anything else we need to know to use this?

HP Recommended

Sorry - wrong thread, wrong topic. Yes, it's for the Spectre x360; it's a BIOS update that addresses the listed issues, but no, it does not pertain to the F5 LED - my apologies for posting it in the wrong thread.
