Hi:
Type in the product number and serial number at the link below.
The product number is on the same sticker as the serial number.

The Service and Maintenance Guide for that notebook was published in 2008 so, I'd say at least 3-4 years old.
I am an HP employee.

You're very welcome, Ray
The 6910p is a nice notebook.
I'll let you in on a little secret...if it came with Vista Business (look at the Microsoft COA sticker on the bottom of your notebook) you can order the recovery disks free of charge in the UK by calling this number: 0845 161 0030 Mon-Fri / 08:00-18:00 (except Bank Holidays).
Even if it came with an XP COA you can get the XP recovery disks for free.
Ask the customer services rep to send you both the 32 and 64 bit Vista Business recovery disks.
Now, with the 64 bit version of Vista (or Windows 7 64 bit) installed, you can install 8 GB of PC2-6400 memory.
Every manual or memory website you will find, will state the maximum memory for the 6910p is only 4 GB.
That is probably because there was no such thing as a 4 GB DDR2 notebook memory chip when the PC was introduced in late 2007, as Matt closely predicted.
So, all that was available at the time were 2 GB DDR2 memory chips, and the spec was stated as max = 4 GB.
How do I know it works? I installed 8 GB in mine.
Why does the machine take 8 GB? Because the Intel Mobile 965 chipset supports up to 8 GB of memory.
But remember, with XP 32 bit, you can only install 4 GB. Well, you can install 8 GB, but only 4 GB will be "seen" and used, as that is all the memory a 32 bit operating system can address.
Best Regards,
Paul
