Here is

Maintenance and Service Guide

http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02439213/c02439213.pdf

It mentions 3 models of optical units (on its page 30):

(27) Optical drive

(includes bezel)

DVD-ROM Drive 598693-001

DVD±RW Double-Layer Drive with LightScribe 598694-001

Blu-ray Disc ROM Drive with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Double-Layer 598695-001

so unless you have the DVD-ROM unit (and can't burn anything) you should be able to burn

dual layer DVDs. I use imgburn if I have a DVD-image file that I want to burn to DVD. If you just

have video files you need some sort of DVD authoring software to build a DVD image with

menus and such

Best of luck
