Seriously I dont believe I am reading so many graphics related problems with these laptops considering mine has just died unexpectedly and seems to work fine on an external monitor, then had to go out and buy a brand new one, the fact these are made in China for the price of a pair of trainers is not an endearing quality, open it and wave a heat-gun at it!?! Seriously... Thats it.. I am going to buy Samsung in future.

Hi Experts,
I have a dv9700t notebook which has the exact same problem - no display. I tried the approach mentioned below to reflow. Then I did a bare-bone testing with just the display assembly and the power adapter. But there is no diaplsy.
FYI... for reference, I also followed the below link (to make the bare-bone assembly):
HP DV9000 blank screen fix! Video problem BGA rework
Here is an image of my bare-bone assembly before powering on:

And here is how it looks after powering on. The fan spins for a while and stops, and then the LED on the power button board (top) keeps blinking, and the "LED 4" (bottom) stays on.

Here is the image of another LED - the "LED 9" which stays on at the other side of the board.

Any idea what's going on? Please let me know in case I missed out any important details.

If your laptop beep 3 times and nothing comes on screen the simple solution is ...
1. don't need to diassamble laptop.
2. take a blanket and open laptop in L shape.
3. cover the laptop by blanket from all keyboard, processor fan and screen bottom side (the air of processor fan should not be crossed).
4. turn on laptop, it will beep 3 time and just leave it for 1hour. ( keep remember charger and bettery both should be connected to laptop and hot air of fan should not be leak from blanket, coz the hot air will heat nvidia chipset automatically).
5. After 1 hour, take out laptop from blanket and and restart it, it will turn on and work.
99 % will work.

This is a great fix .. thanks for the information .. but do you really expect end users to know how to do this .. this is alot of work and dangerous at that ... I am in IT and I would not want to go through all of this to seed a video chip .... Just sayin ... but thanks for the info .... I guess I need a new laptop 😞

Use the blanket method stated earlier. It works like a charm. It is also described here:
I had the same issue and it works. My Hp dv6000 is working fine now.
