hp stream 11 wont start after factory reset. Deleted recovery partition
04-06-2017 01:40 AM

I recently purchased a HP Stream 11-doll wm. I proceeded to factory reset the notebook. During this process I received a couple of errors. I went ahead and try to reboot the system. For some reason it shows no partion recovery drive, no drivers, and list no operating system. Originally the notebook came with Windows 8.1 but when I received it had Windows 10 Home 64 bit. Any suggestions.

Hi,
I would perform a clean install of Windows 10. You can get a free copy directly from Microsoft by downloading media creation tool and running. You will need to do this on another computer and choose when you have launched media creation tool " To install on another PC". Create a bootable USB drive with the same edition of Windows 10 already installed on the computer which is not working. You will need 4GB pendrive.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You will need to change boot order in Bios and boot the PC from Pendrive and install Windows 10. I always prefer a clean install on my PCs. Windows 10 will automatically activate once installed and connected to internet.
Let me know if you need further help,
David

Your laptop came with Windows 8.1 with Bing (64-bit).
Have you created HP Recovery USB after first setup of this notebook?

If you've successfully upgraded and activated to Windows 10 Home previously then you've an option to clean install Windows 10 Home by creating bootable installation USB using Microsoft windows media creation tool:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-clean-install-windows-10-a.html
Windows will be automatically activated after installation while connected to internet
Additional drivers from here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-stream-11-d000-notebook-pc/7372144/model/7563447
HP recovery partition will not work if you've upgraded to Windows 10 previously, so if you need to factory reset you've to order HP Recovery USB from HP support directly.
