Hello iamirritated.

Are you able to use a USB mouse?

When you attempt to reinstall the driver what is the error you're receiving?

You may want to see if the device is being detected and listed in Device Manager.  Try the following.

  1. Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
  2. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" section.
  3. Do you have a mouse listed here?  If so, what is it named?

I hope you have a great day!  I will keep an eye out for your reply.

yes the USB mouse is working fine. but when i remove it,the touchpad isnt workig.
i uninstlled the prvs  driver ,rebooted it,, and downloaded the updated synaptics touchpad . Earlier in "mouse properties' i couldnt find the "devce settings" but now its being displayd, but the sub-topics are highlghted grey..i cant click on aythng.
and as u guided.. i looked oto device manager>mice and other poiting devices >

1.HID compliant mouse

2.synaptics ps/2 port comaptible touchpad

that means driver is instlled right?
the why isnt touchpad workig now?

Hello again iamirritated.

That does indeed imply that the mouse is installed.  Is there an LED in the top-left corner of your touchpad?  What color is it?

Is it possible the device is disabled in Device Manager?  Right click on the device and see if you have the option to "enable."

What method did you use to uninstall the driver?  Did you remove it from Device Manager?  If not, try the following.

  1. Go back to Device Manager.
  2. Right click on the touchpad device.
  3. Select "Uninstall."  If prompted remove the driver only.
  4. Reboot the notebook and allow Windows to reinstall the driver.
  5. Verify whether the touchpad works.

I really feel as though this is a software issue.  If the touchpad was non-functional then it is unlikely that it would appear in the Device Manager.  I will be watchign for your reply.  I hope you have a great day!
