Hi,

Do not use the computer now. Leave the battery out and disconnect any cables connected. Then call HP technical Support and they will be able to take care of the problem.

Hello,

Please contact HP Support, this most likely needs a new system board and that would be handled with warranty support. 🙂 1-800-474-6836

Dear Sir ,
The smoking laptop is broken, possibly due to a faulty or insufficient power supply.you should always run the correct voltage, insufficient watts will have the same effect, the laptop draws more than the adapter can supply and it overheats, sometimes with dire consequences as I think you have found out.

The laptop purchase under defective material retention ( DMR) , kindly visit nearest  Hp authrized server center with purches bill the laptop would be replace  .

Are you in India? So that number may not work. Try this:

1-(800)-112-267

1800 200 0047

Let me know if you are in another country. Will try to get the number for you.

I understand that you have HP ProBook 4540s getting overheat

Is it possible that liquid had been spilled in the notebook? That's the biggest reason for smoke, IME..
