Hi
I think you can keep it running all the time. I keep mine on for several days before i shutdown.
I have also noticed that adapter get hot only when it charges the battery otherwise if battery is fully charged then it wont get hot.
Please also make sure to use proper power management option, i use power saver when i keep my notebook running overnight.

Keeping it plugged in all the time can ruin your battery, so remove it until needed.

I have heard that said, but where is the technical specs to support it? There are also articles that say that leaving laptops plugged in in these later generation computers is ok.
Please tell where you get your information?

That's wrong, that HP page doesn't say that. I've read that page many times, because I had the same question. With the newer batteries and charging systems in the laptops, it doesn't hurt the batteries by leaving the AC on except in one circumstance it covers.
It says "continuously" for 2 weeks, and I doubt most people would do that. If you unplug it once in a while overnight, and let the battery burn off some power, and then plug it back in the next day, it should be fine. Also, Best Buy told me the same thing, as well as a couple of techy guys I know.
