I think that the dog determined the problem, and then showed you the solution, the only way that it could. :generic:

As they say "knick, knack, give the dog a bone". :generic:

Thanks for the reference to "Heath Robinson".

For the sake of non-UK readers, here is a quote from Wikipedia:

In the UK, the term "Heath Robinson" entered the popular language during the 1914–1918 First World War as a description of any unnecessarily complex and implausible contrivance, much as "Rube Goldberg machines" came to be used in the US from the 1920s onwards as a term for similar efforts.

This  is absolutely   crazy     after  all the problems   with my second   laptop  my    first one   has now the same problem  ( mouse buttons not responding)  is this a common fault with   HP laptops   ?    this one  is a  Pavilion DV 6- 6B09SA,   luckily  the  USB wireless mouse   I bought is now in use with this machine    but how can I  clear out  the   debris  from the  touchpad and mouse buttons?  I have tried the vacumm  clearner  and  turning the   machine  and lightly  tapping it,   is there a way of   removing  the buttons  without causeing damage  so I can clean  out  any  fluff  from  the  inside

The "Maintenance and Service Guide" for your computer:  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03015537

describes the proper method of disassembly.
