compaq c500
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Good day forum people. I have another issue I cannot seem to figure out, but I have my suspicions. I have upgraded a compaq c500 P dual T2080 from xp to win 7 x32. It came with 2 gig ram. I have tried to put in 1 gig to make 3, and again 2+ 2 to try 4. In both cases it would no even boot. Is 2 gig the max for this system? thank you my friends. TFL522

C571nr is the model number and yes the maximum memory is 2 gigs. The HP Service Manual is not available online but third party memory vendors say it maxes at 2 gigs, and that is what I recall from last time I worked on one a few years back:

The specified memory is DDR2-533 aka pc2-4200. You have DDR2-800 aka PC2-6400 but it will be running at 533 mhz not 800

Need complete model number to verify what ram and configuration it uses.

BTW, Millions of folks have gone back from Win10 to their prior O/S -- something you don't hear about from MS. by WAWood but ALL to TRUE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those that want HD Gaming should plan to invest in a Gaming Laptop to handle those requirements. Eamples GTA V or Crysis 3.

Thanks for the reply. OK, it is: Compaq Presario C500 part # GF572ua. Ram is 1 GB (ea.) PC2-6400 666 MHz. Hope that will help. Thanks again!
