my Pavilion g-41117dx Notebook PC is frozen

HP Recommended
Pavilion g-41117dx Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

My Pavilion g4 Notebook PC will not let me start. I get a failed smart check when I do the hard Disk test . no matter what I do, it does not open to my desk top. I had been watching a utube video, and the computer frose up, so i forced the computer off by holding down the power button. now it wont start up.

I tryed several times to go with launch start up repair, but it eventually brings up a small window with the heading

x:\windows\system.32\cmd.exe and does 7 lines and then a blinking curser, and that's it.

How can I fix this? I don't have  a hard disk of any kind with this computer because it was given to me as a hand me down from my wife.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

The hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced with a new one, then the operating system needs to be reinstalled via HP Recovery Media.

You can order the HP Recovery Media kit here (link)  and almost any notebook hard drive should work.  The hard drive that shipped with your notebook is a 320GB SATA hard drive 2.5IN - 5,400 RPM (order from HP here) but you can really use any size & speed of 2.5 in HDD.
