Hi @A_Ag,

Good Day. Thanks for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding the USB flash drive being write protected. It will be a pleasure to assist you here.

Commendable diagnosis, superb troubleshooting and splendid description of the issue before posting. Hats off you on that score. 🙂

  • Have you tried it on different devices like a smartphone or another computer?
  • Did you run a scan on the USB flash drive?

Please try these steps.

  • Please try to connect the USB flash drive to multiple devices to check if the issue is the same in all the devices.
  • Then please insert the drive in one of the USB ports of the computer.
  • Please right-click on the drive. (don’t open it by left-clicking) then select properties>tools>click on check(for errors) fix it if found.
  • Also please run a defrag on the drive.
  • Then please follow all the prescribed steps from this link: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/how-to-remove-write-protection-...  to remove the write protection on the drive. This needs to be done carefully, please.
  • Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.
