Thank you for your reply Paul. I have managed to get it working with the following driver which you linked in another thread:

Atheros AR9000 series

For your reference, notebook model is 14-d008AU.

I just got the site I was looking for.   My HDD crashed,  got an Windows 7 ISO file;  booted .  But now I am not able to connect to the Network even with wired connection.

The Network Adapter seems to be correct (does not display the yellow triangle)  but under  Other Devices ,  all devices have yellow triangle .  These devices  and the Hardware ID are --

Network Controller      PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&SUBSYS_13158086&REV_00

PCI Device   PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5209&SUBSYS_165B103C&REV_01

PCI Simple Comunications Controller     PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_165B103C&REV_04

SM Bus Controller  PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C22&SUBSYS_165B103C&REV_05

I have a HP Pavilion DV7 - 6163us

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Additional info ...

When trying to connect it  first says "connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE)"   and after a while says Error 651 :The model or other connecting device has reported an error

Hi:

I don't know why you are not able to connect using the wired network adapter because there is no ethernet controller device ID listed that you posted.

But the other drivers you need are these:

Install the smbus controller driver first and reboot.

Hi:

For the first two you need to install the AMC chipset driver and reboot. You want the first file listed on the webpage.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 7 - 64

For the unknown device, go to your notebook's support and driver page and download and install the Protectsmart Hard drive protection driver or the 3D Driveguard driver which will be found under the Solutions driver category.
