I have had a Pavilion G6, model g6 - 1296sa, product number A2U13EA#ABU, for just under a year now and I am already experiencing problems. Every single time I am using my laptop, the screen keeps freezing and many programs come up as not responding. As well as that, programs take forever to open and the laptop keeps losing internet connection even when I am directly opposite the wireless router. I don't have any wi-fi connection problems with any other device. Can I do anything to fix these problems?

Hi,
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.
If both the above tests pass, try the following.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, click Computer, left click Local Disc C once to highlight it, right click Local Disc C and select Properties. Click the Tools tab and then click the button to 'Check the Drive for Errors'. In the following window make sure both boxes are ticked and then click Start. Agree to schedule the check at the next system restart and then restart the notebook - this process can take several hours to complete before loading back into Windows.

Hi,
I have run the memory test and the short hard drive test and the results where fine. However, when I ran the long hard drive test, the screen kept freezing and not responding. I have tried that test now several times but the same result keeps happening.

Hi,
It looks like your Hard Drive may need to be replaced as the long test often fails to complete if the drive is failing.
As a further test, try the following.
1. Create a bootable Ubuntu CD - a guide on creating an Ubuntu CD and the download can be found Here.
2. When created, follow the guide on the link below to Try Ubuntu.
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install
The 'Try Ubuntu' option runs the OS from the CD without the need to install on your HDD. If this runs Ok ( it will be slow running from a CD ), this would tend to confirm that the problem is with the HDD.

I am no pro but I have seen symptoms like this before and found out even after testing memory that was the problem. On my DV7 I had to replace memory after 1 year. How you can test is take one DIMM out and run it with one only if the problem disappears its that bad memory and replace it. If it doesn't then try the other one to get the same problem. If not then the memory is fine..

Hi,
I have tried the solution you provided, but I did not found a problem when scaning the hard drive (bios scan result included),
I think it is safe to say the problem is not hard drive related.. right? I ran the sfc /scannow command too..
The problem still persists, what could hvae caused it?

I have found a fix to the problem of freezing screen, program's not responding etc... You have to completely reboot your whole laptop (erase all data as well) so it's like you've just taken it out of the box. After you've done that, everything should be fine.
